A Few Changes
Posted: Friday 7th November 2008
My new site has been up for about a month now, and I’m nearly back on top of my uni work, so I’ve had a chance to make a few changes to the site. The most noticeable of these is the introduction of the friendly URL’s. Instead of looking like a long list of variables they now look much more like a common folder path. This should help in navigation and remembering site pages. As with all changes it brought a few problems. Most of this were just missing images or broken links. All the problems should be fixed but I still keep running in to the odd missing image.

New Site!
Posted: Thursday 9th October 2008
Over a year ago I moved my site to a new server, as a result many of the feature broke including the ability to be able to update the site. I have been so busy out on placement for the year that there was no change to make the repairs. September finally came and with a free month before the start of my final year I decided that instead of fixing the old site (which was a bit out of date); I would just build a new site. So here it is! There is still a few tweeks to be made, hopefully these will be soon, but Uni work is starting to catch up with me so I may have to wait until Christmas.
This is the most important year of university and I will be working on a lot of new projects which will all be blogged on this website. Also I will be posting regular news updates to this blog about everything that is happening this year.

New Year - A few changes to the site
Posted: Monday 1st January 2007
Last term I was so busy with other coursework that I haven’t had time to update my site. To start the New Year I felt it finally time to carry out some work on my site. So far I’ve adjusted the layout a bit, restored the site compatibility with Internet Explore 6, adjusted it to fit on smaller screens and changed the way the page scrolls. The last change is part of my current redevelopment of the left menu, the intention to make it more useful throughout the site and hopefully improving the overall navigation.
As well as adjusting the layout of the left menu I’m also considering rearranging the top menu area, however this will depend on how long the side menu takes to change as I have other projects to be getting on with this week.

Second Year Underway
Posted: Wednesday 1st November 2006
Well the second year is now well underway, with the first deadline of the year fast approaching. The last few weeks have been busy with most the time being spent developing the organism project. Other ongoing projects include a 0 and X game in java, an asp database website, a company promotion website and an interactive media project. Further information on each of these projects can be found in the MPT section of this site.
Also I am currently doing some work with camcrew TV. Over the next few weeks I will update some more information regarding camcrew.

Forum Moving
Posted: Tuesday 20th June 2006
To avoid the need for two login's I am going to move the forum. I am going to write my own custom message board for the site and implement a method of comment writing on posts.

Whats been going on the past few weeks
Posted: Monday 19th June 2006
It's been a while since I last posted on the site, this is for 2 reasons. Firstly I've been on holiday for 2 weeks so haven't been able to get on the internet and secondly I have been working on a few changes to the site which I have only just finished.
The site now has a search facility to search the site, this took longer to develop than planned, and some extra code was needed to make it more user friendly, it still has the occasional error which I will tweak once I've got the majority of the other projects finished.
Editing of the site has now been moved and makes use of php sessions to monitor logins. The control panel is still very basic and I plan to add to it over the next week. I am also going to start work on the photo gallery this week, so check back soon as I will be uploading pictures from my holiday as well as the photos from Download Festival 2006.

More site changes over the summer
Posted: Tuesday 30th May 2006
I have been so busy with exams etc the last few weeks haven't really had the time to update my site very much. Now my first year is over I feel its time to redevelop my site a bit. During the redesign period my old site will remain online, most of the time at least. The front end graphics of the site will be remaining the same since I am happy with the way it looks; the changes are mostly to aid the administrative side to the site. Below I have listed the targets I intent to achieve over the summer:
- Adding an administrative control panel to allow post editing to be easier, and remove the use of a parallel sub-domain. The gain means I will only need one copy of index.php, so all changes will be shown. Although this may require a big change to the way the site is set out, in the long run it will save me time. This site is really a learning curve on how to use php, so hopefully as time goes by the site will get better.
- Continue work on the photo gallery, adding more option for each page, automating photo upload, auto creating the thumbnail images etc.
- Adding a personal blog section to the site, this will be used to document all the non course related things that take place during the summer.
- Finishing off the user feedback section to each post which I started work on earlier in the year.
- Adding my own personal profile to the about page. (I will also still continue to use 'My Space for some stuff'.)

A few things being added soon!
Posted: Sunday 7th May 2006
First of all I must apologise for not posting on the news section for a while, I've been rather busy getting the site updated with my work, and now I'm short of free time due to revision for the exams. Over the next few weeks I hope to finish off a few changes to the post layout and update the links at the foot of each post. I still have a few pieces of work to upload so I will also get them uploaded.
I am also going to start on my next project of an online photo album, however this may take a while as its going to involve writing some more php and I'm not to sure how its going to fully work yet, got a few ideas though. Also with exams only a week away most of my time needs to be spent concentrating on revision.
Please check out the site forum. Once people start using it I will add more message boards, if anyone has any ideas for boards or topics please leave a message. To help regulate the forum a bit better I have removed guest posting so users have to register to post a message.
